Let Your Love Shine Through
Talk with your child about friendship and why it is important to express our love for each other. Explain to your child that when we show our love to others, we can spread that feeling and make the special people in our lives very happy. And what better way to show your love than with a heart?
Step 1: Things You'll Need
Collect the items from the materials list.
Little Hands Tip: What other things show love? Flowers? Hugs? Smiles?
Step 2: Print It
Download the Heart to Heart Window Art Sheet. Once you've downloaded it, print it out. If you can't print the activity page, you can just draw some hearts on a sheet of white paper.
Step 3: Trace It
Place a piece of wax paper over the printout (or your drawings), and trace the heart shapes with a marker.
Step 4: Color It
Help your child carefully cut some small pieces of the tissue paper. Remember, hearts can be any color you want!
Step 5: Spread the Glue
Spread a small amount of glue inside the hearts on the wax paper.
Step 6: Press Your Hearts
Place the pieces of tissue paper on top of the glue on the wax paper. Press the pieces down firmly to make sure they stick.
Step 7: Dry It
Set your sheet aside and let the hearts dry. When the glue has completely dried, help your child carefully cut out the hearts.
Share Your Hearts
Now your hearts are ready! Together, look around the house for a place to put them. With a little tape, they'll cling to any window, so you might look for a window where passersby can see them, too. Or, find a clever spot where someone special might come across them—a surprise that will make them smile!
