Word on the street: Comfort
To soothe someone and make them feel better.
Elmo, Abby, Leela, and some chickens have just won a game of T-ball, but…batten down the hatches! A storm's a-brewin' on Sesame Street. And the chickens are freaking out.
Gathered into Hooper's Store where it's safe, the gang tries to soothe the panic-stricken chickens as lightning cracks and thunder booms. Shall they cover their eyes so they don't get scared by the lightning? Well, that doesn't stop them from hearing the thunder. Will Abby's magic earmuffs do the trick? Um, no, they can still see the lightning. Feathers are flying! Can anything calm these chickens down? How about if Leela assures them they are safe, and explains exactly what thuderstorms are? Maybe…just a little.
To help their feathered friends, Elmo, Abby, and Leela watch the storm as if it's a fireworks show. They count between the lightning and thunder to determine that the storm is moving away. They also put on their own stormy musical performance, and the chickens finally calm down just as the storm fades. Out comes the sun…in time for more T-Ball!
