Cookie Monster

 

Sure, we all know Cookie Monster loves cookies. But behind that googly-eyed, carb-craving exterior lies a delightfully complicated monster. Cookie asks philosophical questions about where cookies come from. He concocts poems about cookies. He’s also in touch with his emotions, bursting into tears when confronted with the horror of an empty cookie jar.

Despite all these cookie-related activities, the show’s propmakers rarely use real cookies in the blue monster’s skits. Chocolate, oil, and grease are all bad for a Muppet costume, so they paint rice cakes to look like cookies. But hey, that’s okay with Cookie Monster -- he likes to eat healthy foods too.
