A retired firefighter who was “tired of being retired,” Mr. Handford came to Sesame Street in 1989 to run Hooper’s Store. Snuffy and Alice occasionally got his name wrong and called him “Mr. Handfoot” by mistake. Mr. Handford ran the store until he sold it to Alan in 1998.
